Biography PA CHIEF OKORIE OKWARA AGU (1910-2014)

The story of Pa Chief Okorie Okwara Agu(Arisa of Ndi Nko) is as enriching as it is surprising.His emergence into the traditional farming system limelight out of sheer hard work leaves a template for aspiring young people who are desirous of success in the farming industry in society. He was born in 1910 into the family of five where the male children slightly outnumbered the female children.

In those days of innocence, the family planning was geared towards large families, at least to generate labour for the farm. The heads of the families enlisted the elderly sons to join in training the other ones, even when they were equipped with little or no skill. This was exactly what happened to Pa Chief Okorie Okwara Agu, who did not have the privilege of registering in any formal education as a child, but he vowed not to do without culture and tradition cum farming. Pa Chief Okwara "Arisa" was inducted into traditional farming as a teenager, obviously the fastest means to make money and assist his father in the onerous task of training a few of his relations. While he did that, he embarked on a campaign using the Egbela and its cultural norms as a springboard. He was employed by the Late Chief KOK Onyeoha at Ukwa Nkporo Palm Oil farm between the ages of 35 and worked for many years. He was also a known hunter who had succeeded in killing many different types of animals before his death, including a forest river crocodile. As the book of Isaiah had it that on that day, seven women will cling to one man. Pa Chief Okorie had done with his own assignment. However, in 1979, he was appointed among the six interesting members, including late Chief Opanwamba, to represent Nkporo in Ohafia Local Government, and Pa Chief Okorie Okwara was declared unopposed by Chief Owu Uko, and as the first supervisor, he worked for three weeks, and the military took overpower, but before now, he was known as the first Hon. Ever produced in Ndi Nko Nkporo. Arisa Cococream, as he was popularly called by many, he instigated the name “Uga Ukwu Saghi Asuru", as what is known by the community today. It does not end there, he made it possible that every member of the community during the New Yam festival must assemble at Okezie Hall in celebrating the new yams, and this has been the period of 1984 to date, and this has made him a societal gem. As a craftsman, Pa Chief Okorie, before his death, I had made many crafts such as, Christmas crackers, Egbela traditional mask, baskets, muter, etc. However, as a peace-loving man, he was blessed with "twelve Children". Furthermore, death is not the end of life, but the beginning of life in endless existence. For in death and through death we awake into everlasting life. Fear him not who can kill the body but is not able to kill the soul, rather fear him who is able to kill both the body and soul and cast them into everlasting fire. Life is not for the number you left behind.

SOCIAL LIFE
Pa Chief Okorie Okwara Agu "Arisa" was a very social and sociable man. He is never found wanting in his social endeavours, especially when dealing with his mates. As a founder and Chairman of Okezie Age Grade Ndi Nko, he actively participated in all their activities and
commitment. He successfully and elegantly initiated the building of Okezie hall.
